## 1\. Etymology

**Mechanistic** in Sharp’s lexicon is a **cross-reference cluster**: see [causal](https://www.descentpress.com/index/causal/), objective level, and reductive. In dream work Sharp also equates the reductive method with a “mechanistic” reading of images as concrete outer reality.
